I agreed to go to an estate sale with my other half on Saturday because of the promise of beer and pizza afterwards. Boy, am I glad I did.
It was the typical sale, cheap stuff, mostly picked over by the time we got there early in the afternoon. Wandering through the sale, bored, I saw some familiar blue cards. They had 30 hot wheels or so, still on-card, mixed in amongst the toys on the 'toy table'. The cards weren't bad, some had OLD price stickers, a couple of bent corners, no big deal. The cars were mostly 02-04. I flagged a estate assistant over and asked how much for all the cars since there were no prices listed.
She said $80. I chuckled and said that I thought that was a little steep and would go $40. She hemmed and hawed and countered at $60, which was exactly where I knew it would go, I agreed and started to pickup the cars. She told me they would find a box for me and she signed a sales receipt for me to take up front to pay.
As we were walking toward the front my wife pulled on my sleeve and told me to look back at the estate assistant, she had just bent behind the table and PICKED UP THREE BOXES OF CARS and was boxing them up. I hadn't even seen the box of cars behind the table and when I asked 'How much for ALL THE CARS' she took it to mean all of them.
There were 109!!! cars. When we got out to the car my wife, who LOVES to bargain hunt and barter for deals, lovingly called me all sorts of names for the deal I just received.
I asked at the counter about the cars and the daughter of the gentleman who had passed said that her dad use to buy cars for when his grandchildren would come over. She also said that she found cars all over his house and assumed he had hidden and forgotten about them.

Are you up for trading any of them, specifically the bugatti or that D-type...? What a killer deal!

This beetle is the perfect car for a jump we used to have...he would jump the farthest off our gravity fed ramp!

Every time I get a good haul someone out does me 3 fold the next day. I can't win with you guys...lol. EPIC deal man that's only $0.55 a car. I paid $1.50 a car for all my old stuff and thought it was a bargain.

That is a great haul, nice score on the deal! They sure made some whacky cars back then, very few straight production models in the bunch. I recently acquired that same Bugatti in a trade with mr_benjamin_rolland. Very cool with the 2 spare tires on the back.

Yeah, most of them are in the 'Fantasy' style of Hot Wheel. Off the peg I typically skip the Fantasy styles, but most of these older Hot Wheels fantasy cars are cool.
